7 Most Significant Consumer Technology Trends For 2023

Domestic Robots

We are already used to having more robots in our homes. We have robotic pool cleaners, robotic pool cleaners, and robotic vacuum cleaners. We will see more and more tools that can help us learn. We see robots being used in health care to watch over older people and children possibly.

Amazon will sell Astro, possibly the first home robot that can do many different things. We could use this as a moving security robot or an Alexa on wheels that comes to find you when you have a call or a warning.

It will also have a personality to keep you company or give you some general fun. Other companies, like Samsung, have released their first home robots, and Tesla just announced the Tesla bot, which is also a home robot that will be coming out soon.

Smarter Things

Smarter things will be another important trend. Now, everything is smart. Before, “smart” meant that something was linked to the Internet. AI is now built into the Internet. Our cars are getting smarter thanks to AI and machine learning.

It lets them be independent or become more independent. We now have smart yoga mats and smart home products. Another good example is a smart TV that uses AI to change its picture and sound to match its surroundings.

They have built-in natural language recognition systems that let us control them with our voices. They also have motion and machine vision systems so that we can control them with our hands. So, this will happen more and more, and some really cool gadgets are on the way.

Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality

The other big trend is virtual reality, augmented reality, and the Internet of Sensors. Our phones now have great augmented reality features, so their sensors are better. We can decorate our homes with dinosaurs.

If you want to buy an apple, you can put all of them into augmented reality and walk around to zoom in and out and see the product for real. We’ll have a more engaging virtual reality that is easier to take with us. Smart glasses just came out from Facebook and Ray-Ban.

These new types of smart glasses almost appear like regular glasses. You can connect them to your phone and enter a virtual world when you put them on. So, it’s fully mobile, and the images and sounds will be more realistic and ultra-realistic. Some of the newest innovations will let you smell and feel things in the virtual world.

Metaverse

The next big thing is the metaverse. There will soon be a new Matrix movie, giving us a good idea of this digital universe, or metaverse, where we could live and work. Companies like Facebook, Nvidia, and Microsoft have already planned to make this immersive online environment or circumstances that offer a persistent world where people can work, socialize, and play.

Some of this is already happening in the game world. For example, there are shows every two weeks where you can watch a movie in the future. We’re seeing this one-of-a-kind world where shopping, playing games, and other things are all mixed into a metaverse world.

Ultra-fast networks

The next big thing will be super-fast networks, like 5g or the coming 6g. We’ll all have access to super-fast Internet anywhere, and some of our gadgets, like those used for virtual reality and games, won’t have to be plugged in.

We can stream high-definition television and play games in the cloud, which would be a big deal. Instead of buying a game device, you could just play games in the cloud. This means that all the work you need can be done online, and you can just stream and play a game.

Smart Homes

Smart houses and the Internet of Things are also important trends. There could be more than 500 smart gadgets in the normal home. We should see the start of Matter, the smart home operating system made by Apple, Google, and Amazon, working together. This is meant to establish a standard working system for connected gadgets in the home. This will push this market, expected to grow to more than 50 billion dollars.

NFT, the Blockchain, and Digital Twins

Important trends include non-fungible tokens (NFT), blockchain, and digital twins. We’re putting all of these in the same group because they’re all used for personal computing and are very similar. In blockchains, you have this digital record that stays up and is shared and secured.

NFTs are one-of-a-kind tokens that can be made and kept on the blockchain. Then there are “digital twins,” digital copies of real-world goods or processes. This will change how we use technology. So, we will start to see them have a big effect on consumer goods.

Consumer names like Sony, Asics, Coca-Cola, and many more have said they want to be a part of this NFT space, so we will likely see digital services and goods that support and add to real consumer products. This should give you a good thought of what will happen and what will happen.
